Animal Success Stories
As an all volunteer foster-based rescue group, successful adoption stories are the only compensation we seek! Our Foster Caretakers, who spend weeks or months loving the animals in their care, always want to know how their “babies” are doing once they have found their forever homes. We hope that the adoption of a pet is not the end of a process but the beginning of a relationship between A Second Chance Puppies and Kittens Rescue and our adoptive families. If you’ve adopted a dog or cat from us, please share your story! Success Stories and pictures can be sent to adoptions@asecondchancerescue.org.

Hoops
Dear friends at A second chance:
I wanted to take some time today to tell you how wonderful my adoption experience has been. My puppy known to you as Hoops, is now called Max; he is 7 months old and has been with me and my family since he was 4 months old. He immediately became a best friend to the family and we knew we could never be apart again. He is extremely sweet, very playful, and a great friend. My father is diabetic, and Max has become his new walking buddy, together they take walks and help each other out. Max's favorite game is catch, he certainly loves running. He is very healthy, he came to us I believe with 20 pounds , but he is now around 43 pounds he is growing to be a big dog ;)
Attached I have some pictures to show some good times with Max.
I want to thank you for the labor that you do as a rescue league, please keep up the great work ;)

Harry
Dear Kathy,
Harry is the second pet we've got from Second Chance in less than a year! We adopted Jack (formally Elvis) in December 2009 and he is very happy to have a little brother! We also have a 4 year old Australian Cattle Dog and she loves both Jack and Harry, rounding out the family is our 11 year old cat, Harvey. Harry is VERY interested in Harvey and follows him around copying his actions..
Harry is doing really well! Our vet is at Banfield at the PetSmart we adopted him from and all of people there love him! He has a spot of Ringworm so that is in the process of being cleared up and our vet is very happy with his progress :) I had not planned on adopting another cat (or any pet actually), I happened to be at Petsmart taking Jack and Paxton to their annual checkup and I saw Harry and fell in love! I took the dogs home and then went back to get a closer look......and took him home!
I've attached some pictures of our newest family member. Thanks for everything!

Hooch
Hi Kathy,
From the minute we got Hooch home it was as if he knew he belonged there.
His comfort level is extreemly high. I can tell, as he is often found
sleeping on his back. Dogs that do not feel confident in their surroundings
usually do not do this.
When I wake up in the mornings he is always in my bed, usually curled up
under my right arm, however on occassion I l.ocate him completely under the
covers.
He has a great relationship with the cat and on occassion we will observe
him laying on the floor with the cat licking (cleaning) him. He has given
additional youth to our 6 year old German Shepard, they run around our
fenced in back yard like Greyhounds.
He is gentle when taking treats from your hands and is not concerned when
anybody is near him while he is eating. He socializes well when around
children. He is well behaved, we have taken him to resturants that have
outdoor areas to eat. He justs lays down at your feet while you eat and
does not beg or pull on his leash.
He has reciently found out that he can bark. When he does this, he does it
with purpose and confidence. An example of this was while we were walking
him in the middle of the street very late one night (I dont allow him to
walk on other peoples yards incase they don't spray and might have ticks and
fleas), he started barking like he wanted to bite someone, pulling at his
leash. We couldn't figure out why his behavior just changed. It was dark
and we could not see any danger we were passing a construction site. All of
a sudden a male on his 20's got up and and started running to the rear of
the construction site and went over the rear fence.
It was a pleasure to see that he was instinnctively protective at such a
young age. I am glad that we had the opportunity to adopt him and that he
adopted us. Thank you for checking up on him.
Sincerly,
Cliff
Honey
Kathy,
Honey is doing just fine - settled in with the outside cat, Blackie, who I had spayed and given his rabies shot. They play together and wait for am and pm feedings in my kitchen.
Honey barks at anyone or thing that she is not familiar with. She plays in my yard with several toys I bought her. Active as can be and loves to jump my front fence. I keep her inside unless my renter is up and watching her or I am home. Plan on putting a higher fence to block her from the front yard, so I can feel safe leaving the back pet door open for her to come and go as she chooses.
I am feeding her canned (Iams) and dry food (Science Diet) without any problems. I take her out in the early morning when I water my roses. The Summer of Love rose I planted in honor of Sandy, has a least 5 rose blooms and is doing great.
Haddie
Dear A Second Chance Puppy and Kitten Rescue,
We just want to start this email by saying THANK YOU, you all are an extraordinary organization that brings happiness into homes from the love and joy of a pet. We changed her name Haddie became SADDIE the day we brought her home because my daughter kept calling her that instead and it has stuck with her, she comes and listens to it very well. As for how Saddie is adjusting to our family, well adjusting isn't the word LOL she is a huge PART of our family, even the cat loves her. She goes to school with us when we bring/drop-off my daughter, trip to visit my parents in St. Cloud, the beach, the park and just about everywhere we go she goes. She is so well behaved, wonderful with people, loves and adores my children, she follows them, lays with them, and runs outside playing ball with us every night after dinner. We love Saddie being a part of family and everyone Saddie greets they love her too. She is already potty trained, crate trained at night, learning how to play catch with a ball and Frisbee and knows how to come, sit, no, down, bye bye, up and we are working on shake. She has given us alot of joy, and we will continue to enjoy everyday with her, thanks to your organization. Here are some great pictures of Saddie for all of you to enjoy and AWWW over because she is definitely a AWWW puppy, she's the BEST my daughter says THE BEST PUPPY EVER!!! Thank you so much for all you did for Saddie, and letting us adopt her into our home, we are forever grateful!!!
Thank you all so much,
Fernando, Crystal, Kaley, and Kohl
