Animal Success Stories
As an all volunteer foster-based rescue group, successful adoption stories are the only compensation we seek! Our Foster Caretakers, who spend weeks or months loving the animals in their care, always want to know how their “babies” are doing once they have found their forever homes. We hope that the adoption of a pet is not the end of a process but the beginning of a relationship between A Second Chance Puppies and Kittens Rescue and our adoptive families. If you’ve adopted a dog or cat from us, please share your story! Success Stories and pictures can be sent to adoptions@asecondchancerescue.org.

Harmonee
Hi Kathy,
I am so sorry I feel like I have left you out of the loop. I have exchanged several e-mails and pictures with Terry. Harmonee is now Mylie and she is doing awesome, she just completed puppy school and is still going to puppy play time on Saturdays. She will start her next class in about 4-5 weeks. She loves going out on the boat and hanging out at the sandbar and going for rides to pick the kids up from school. I enclosed a picture for you to see how she is becoming such a big girl!! She has been a wonderful addition to our family.
Thanks for all you do, I will keep you posted...

Hyacinth
Hello to everyone at the Rescue! We adopted Hyacinth (now known as Diamond) back in March and wanted to give you an update. We feel it's important to show that the "mommies" (adult dogs) can make just as great of pets as the puppies can! She is such a wonderful dog and has overcome so much!! Her training is going great! She is very intelligent and learns very quickly! She loves to give kisses and is my 7 year old's "best buddy". She has fit right into our hectic lifestyle and is getting used to the other animals. She is now doing great with the horses and we are getting her accustomed to the ducks. She has been sooo great with the kids and my other dog, Denali, since the first moment we brought her home which was such a relief!! This was the first time we had adopted an adult dog (we always had our dogs from puppy-hood in the past) and Diamond has really shown us what a blessing the adoption process can be (for both animals and owners).
We are soooo grateful to A Second Chance for saving Diamond's life (and the life of her puppies)!!! If Peter or Don can "dig up" any prior pictures of Diamond (with or without her puppies), we would appreciate if you could e-mail them to us as we would love to see them.
Again, thank you for bringing Diamond into our home and our hearts.
Sincerely,
The Sementinos
Hal
I can't tell you how happy my fiance and I both are to have Sadie (we changed her name from Hal shortly after getting her home and getting to know her personality a little better - it actually took about a week to decide on her name).
She is the most amazing little kitty. Since her first night here at home with us, she has slept on my pillow with me at night. A portion of the pillow was covered with her special purple fleece blanket I got for her the day she was adopted. She curled right up on it and that is where she sleeps to this day. You can see in one of the pictures attached where she is on the pillow next to my fiance, Scott.
It took a few days and some patience on everyone's part for our kitty, Satch, and Sadie to get along. Now that they have become friends, which only took about 4 days, they can't be separated. I don't know how my kitty survived without a friend before Sadie. They are inseperable now. They eat together, at times sleep together, and are constantly chasing each other around the house playing - it's the cutest thing.
Thank you for everything you do as an organization. You are good, kind hearted people providing a wonderful service for people like Scott and I, as well as helping out animals in need of good homes. I was so happy to have found you. Everyone working for A Second Chance was a pleasure and made our adoption go thorugh smoothly. A million thanks!!!!
Sincerelly,
Rebecca Carney & Scott Gilleland
Hookie
Well first of all we changed her name from Hookie to Cloee. She has such a personality, and has not realy attached herself to one member of the family, she gets all the attention she can from everyone. She is now crate trained and treats it as her safe area. She spends the nights in her crate and is happy doing so, as it gets late at night she goes to her snack drawer and sits until we come over to give her a treat and then she takes off to her crate and waits for her treat and you to close the door. During the day she has a dog bed that she lays on, or she is on our lap on the couch watching TV. Every once in a while she will have a little bathroom accident on the floor, but we believe this is because she gets so excited. You must have leash trained her prior to living with us because she is very good on a leash. She is getting plenty of exercise as my wife and I walk in the morning and at night, somewhere around 3 miles a day. She fetches, sits, laysdown, and is right befoe rolling over. Cloee and Cali (our cat) are getting along good. It took them about a week to figure out what each other were, but now they run all around the house playing with each other. They each have tube socks that they enjoy stealing from each other and hiding them. She has been a great addition to our family. - Thank You - Gary
Hetty
Kathy,
Hetty is doing well. We changed her name to Hattie Mae. We call her Hattie. We have been taking training lessons through PetSmart. We just went to our fourth class today.
Hattie learns very quickly. She is a good dog. We are really enjoying her. She is growing so fast. She has doubled in size already. We took her to our Vet on Friday to get her rabies shot and she weighed 25 lbs.
I don't have any recent pictures loaded onto my computer. I will try to load them soon and send you pictures.
Thank you again for giving us the chance to give Hattie a second chance at life. We couldn't have asked for a better dog.
Sincerely,
Amy Haynes
