Animal Success Stories

As an all volunteer foster-based rescue group, successful adoption stories are the only compensation we seek!  Our Foster Caretakers, who spend weeks or months loving the animals in their care, always want to know how their “babies” are doing once they have found their forever homes.  We hope that the adoption of a pet is not the end of a process but the beginning of a relationship between A Second Chance Puppies and Kittens Rescue and our adoptive families.  If you’ve adopted a dog or cat from us, please share your story!  Success Stories and pictures can be sent to adoptions@asecondchancerescue.org.

Hershie

Good Morning Kathy,

Hershie, who is now Gabriella Isabella, Gaby for short, is fitting in with her sisters better than we could have imagined. She is a devil puppy that has brought even more joy into our home. She has bonded with her 3 sisters and has to be with them constantly.

We took her on her first camping trip on Labor Day weekend and she was a pro!!!

We are planning on bringing her to the benefit next weekend. Hopefully we will see you then. I have attached some pics of her and her sisters. BTW...we call her ompa lumpa...you will see why in the pics!!!!

Have a great weekend and thanks for checking in on our Gaby!!!!

Honey

We are so happy with Honey, who we have renamed Heidi. She is doing very well in her new home and has made friends with many of the neighbors' dogs.

Since she is still a puppy, we have had a few potty accidents, but nothing unexpected. She sleeps through the night at the foot of our bed, but while awake she is always ready to play. And she loves to be with us wherever we go!

I have attached a few pictures and want to thank you for bringing such a happy companion into our home.

Houdeeni
Houdeeni

Hello well his name is now MoeJoe. He is doing great, comes with me everywhere I go. Just moved from a apartment to a small cottage with a fenced in yard. He is starting to get a bark and its not a small one it sounds like a large dog is in my house. I still can't believe how tiny he is, 6 lbs! He gets along with every dog and cat he comes in contact with. Thank you again! Nicole Caillouette Moejoe's mommy

Holly Berry

I just wanted to give you an update on Holly Berry (now Stella J )….. She is doing very well and getting along great with Ellie. Stella is growing very quickly – she had a vet appointment yesterday and she weighs 22 pounds already…up 6 pounds from her last vet appointment 3 weeks earlier! I’ve attached a few pictures of her/them. Please pass on to Barb as I know she was looking forward to getting updates on her. Thanks for everything you guys do! Your organization is great!

Honey Suckle

I decided to keep Honey's name the same, but Suckle has now become her middle name. She is responding well to being called Honey and is as stubborn as an ox, but it was love at first sight. She loves toys that have squeakers in them and her favorite toy is a stuffed pig. She also purposely loves to throw her toys or bones in the air so that they make loud noises. She quickly caught onto the game of fetch and also loves to play the game of taking my shoes and running off with them. She has grown a lot and I have had to change the notch on her collar twice already. I have been crate training her but I do love when she sleeps in the bed with me at night (she is a bed and cover hog and almost takes up as much room as I do). I recently took Honey to a dog park and she absolutely loved playing with the other dogs. She was timid at first but soon wanted to join in at playing fetch or running around. She learned sit within the first 3 days of having her but I am having problems with housebreaking her. She is learning to sit at the door when she needs to go out but she also drinks a lot so it rapidly goes through her and she has accidents in the house. I know though that she is still young and has improved greatly already from having never even been on a leash or learning to go to the bathroom outside before adopting her. Honey has been a joyful new addition to my family's household and I'm thankful that i adopted her.
