Animal Success Stories

As an all volunteer foster-based rescue group, successful adoption stories are the only compensation we seek!  Our Foster Caretakers, who spend weeks or months loving the animals in their care, always want to know how their “babies” are doing once they have found their forever homes.  We hope that the adoption of a pet is not the end of a process but the beginning of a relationship between A Second Chance Puppies and Kittens Rescue and our adoptive families.  If you’ve adopted a dog or cat from us, please share your story!  Success Stories and pictures can be sent to adoptions@asecondchancerescue.org.

Honey Suckle

I decided to keep Honey's name the same, but Suckle has now become her middle name. She is responding well to being called Honey and is as stubborn as an ox, but it was love at first sight. She loves toys that have squeakers in them and her favorite toy is a stuffed pig. She also purposely loves to throw her toys or bones in the air so that they make loud noises. She quickly caught onto the game of fetch and also loves to play the game of taking my shoes and running off with them. She has grown a lot and I have had to change the notch on her collar twice already. I have been crate training her but I do love when she sleeps in the bed with me at night (she is a bed and cover hog and almost takes up as much room as I do). I recently took Honey to a dog park and she absolutely loved playing with the other dogs. She was timid at first but soon wanted to join in at playing fetch or running around. She learned sit within the first 3 days of having her but I am having problems with housebreaking her. She is learning to sit at the door when she needs to go out but she also drinks a lot so it rapidly goes through her and she has accidents in the house. I know though that she is still young and has improved greatly already from having never even been on a leash or learning to go to the bathroom outside before adopting her. Honey has been a joyful new addition to my family's household and I'm thankful that i adopted her.
